Future of Lewiston’s Simard-Payne park takes shape with proposal for hotel, concerts and more
“The planning board has long supported redevelopment on the riverfront, especially through the city’s Riverfront Island Master Plan, and has not yet reviewed any development applications for Thompson’s proposal.” Lewiston Planning Board Chair Shanna Cox said Monday in a letter that her board’s unanimous recommendation earlier in the year not to sell the property did not signal opposition to Thompson’s plan. She said the board was asked only to weigh the proposed sale of the Red Shop, and the board found that it lacked sufficient information about the property’s future use.

Shanna Cox the right choice for Lewiston in Senate
I first met Shanna Cox when I served on the city of Lewiston’s planning board. I have been consistently impressed by her knowledge, her expertise and her compassion for fellow Mainers. She has endeavored to better the city of Lewiston and this region of central Maine for years. She understands what it means to live and work in Lewiston and she consistently makes the right decisions for its residents.

Cox said if elected she plans to serve as Rotundo did, by being present in the community and focusing on results — “even and especially when it means working with people who are different than you.” She said her experience juggling multiple jobs and organizing within her community around issues such as housing safety has prepared her well.
